Capital Campaign
The Kincardine Community Health Care Foundation is excited to announce the launch of the Kincardine Hospital Redevelopment Capital Campaign – Building Health Care for Generations – with the goal of raising $18 million.
The money will pay for the local share of South Bruce Grey Health Centre’s $79 million Phase 1 Redevelopment Project to revitalize and enlarge critical areas of the Kincardine hospital, as well as the hospital’s ongoing medical equipment needs.
The Phase 1 Redevelopment Project will modernize and expand the emergency department, improve diagnostic imaging, strengthen outpatient laboratory services and create a new decontamination room better able to serve the local nuclear industry’s emergency preparedness program.
This important investment in our local hospital is desperately needed to meet the demands of our growing community. The redeveloped hospital will allow our highly qualified medical staff to better serve local patient needs with improvements that will lead to more efficient and timely care.
“It is well documented that our Kincardine hospital is woefully inadequate to serve the health care needs of our growing community,” said Dr. Jason Murray, a Kincardine physician and member of the KCHCF Capital Campaign Committee. “With our population increasing at a robust rate due to an influx of residents to work at the Major Component Replacement Project at Bruce Power, our hospital needs to expand its capacity to adequately care for these patients. The Kincardine Hospital Redevelopment Project will do just that.”
The Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care will cover 90 per cent of the construction costs leaving the Foundation, through the generosity of corporate, private and community donations, to cover the remainder of the project. In addition, fundraising will allow for the purchase of much needed medical equipment for the Kincardine Hospital.
Funding commitments for new equipment, including the CT Scanner and mammography unit, redevelopment costs and contingencies total $29 million. The KCHCF currently has an investment portfolio balance of $11.2 million for all commitments for the next five years, leaving $18 million to be raised by the Capital Campaign Committee.

SBGHC anticipates breaking ground on the redevelopment of the Kincardine hospital in 2026, with construction expected to take three years to complete. The second phase of the redevelopment is projected to begin upon completion of Phase 1.
